Gustafson Gluek is investigating potential claims against major credit card companies and banks related to the implementation of credit card chip, or EMV, technology. It appears the credit card companies and banks agreed to shift liability for fraudulent transactions to merchants that did not implement and receive certification for EMV-compliant technology by October 1, 2015, even though they knew merchants would not be able to comply with all EMV requirements prior to that date.
If you are a merchant that has been financially responsible for fraudulent transactions since October 1, 2015, due to the liability shift, please contact us to discuss your legal options.
